Tim Etchells exhibits in 'Winter Light' at the Southbank Centre, London, UK, running from 13 Nov 2023 – 7 Jan 2024. The exhibition is viewable 4pm – 11pm.
Etchells presents two new outdoor neon works titled Suddenly It Was Morning and Suddenly It Was Night (2023). Both works make contradictory assertions about the perceived passage of time, playfully invoking distinct and mutually exclusive narrative scenarios.
"This winter, the Southbank Centre is lit up by a series of outdoor artworks, created by ten contemporary artists.
Each artist uses light and colour in playful ways, but at the same time exploring topics at the forefront of society, such as individual and collective identity, the environment and technology."
