Natasha Rees | Artist Presentation: “Obama’s hotdog”

Natasha Rees will discuss some of the ideas behind the work made for ‘Splitting Metaphors’ in the form of collaged text, found sound and images, sourced from a library of materials she’s been collecting since mid-2006. All components of the collage are gathered from the internet, and other easily accessible media – holding both public and private licenses. From politicians relaxing; to food; animals; public sculpture; kissing celebrities; public uprisings and disaster imagery, the collage will attempt to bring to the fore some ideas about literality; repetition; subjectivity; and deferment.

Clare Kenny Q&A with Sabine Schaschl

Clare Kenny will discuss and present slides of her work in ‘Splitting Metaphors’ accompanied by a Q&A with Basel based curator Sabine Schaschl. Schaschl is director of the Kunsthaus Baselland and has previously exhibited Clare Kenny’s work in No Man is an Island, 2012.

Bruce Ingram | Artist Presentation

Bruce Ingram will discuss works in his current exhibition ‘Arrangements’ accompanied by a presentation of images of the process-led practise in the studio and these three new bodies of work, shaped by Ingram’s interest in the Japanese art form of Ikebana.

Bruce Ingram | Book Launch

To accompany the exhibition and talk, Bruce Ingram will be launching an exclusive artist’s book, signed by the artist. ‘Arrangements’ includes full colour images of sculptures and collages featured in the Vitrine Bermondsey Street exhibition. The 88 page A5 publication also includes a foreword text by art critic and curator Sacha Craddock, an interview with the artist by Tessa Perutz and a full biography. Available in the bar after that talk at a special launch priced, £10.
