Christian Newby

Christian Newby (b. 1979, Virginia Beach, US) lives and works in London. He received his BA in Sculpture and Extended Media at Virginia Commonwealth University in 2002, followed by an M.F.A. at Glasgow School of Art in 2009. VITRINE presented Newby in the solo exhibition ‘Breton Wall’ (2013).

In his work, Christian Newby seeks to emphasise the connotative properties beyond an image’s surface qualities, his practice takes both formal and decorative objects and images, and distorts, or reconfigures, their temporal properties.
